Bio

Named after the doctor who delivered her, Devlin is a California native who is crazy in love with New York City. Devlin has performed on San Diego stages for The San Diego Repertory Theater, North Coast Repertory Theater, Lamb's Players Theater and Diversionary Theater. She is the recipient of the San Diego Playbill.com “Billie” Award for Outstanding Lead Actress for her performance as Frankie in Terence McNally's “Frankie and Johnny in the Claire Del Lune” which she co-produced with Vantage Theater. Devlin has also produced and performed two one-woman shows, most notably the biographic “Parianos Drive” which she co-wrote with her sister Paula Brown. Devlin also produced and performed the full length concert “Torchin' the Blues”.

In 2006 Devlin was accepted to the Cabaret Conference at Yale University where she worked with such artists as Amanda McBroom, Laurel Masse, Julie Wilson, Sharon McNight, Michael Orland, Alex Rybeck and Hubert "Tex" Arnold. Yale brought her together for the first time with her director Lina Koutrakos and music director Rick Jensen. In 2007 Devlin debuted her cabaret show “Wild Women” to a sold out audience at Helen's Hideway Room in New York City. She brought the show back to New York in October of 2007 to the Metropolitan Room, voted Best Cabaret, New York Magazine 2008.

Devlin has studied acting for over 25 years with coach, actress and director D.J. Sullivan, who's distinguished coaching career has influenced students including Tony Award winners Brian Stokes Mitchell and Christian Hoff. Devlin was privileged to study with the legendary coach, playwright and author of “Audition” Michael Shurtleff in Los Angeles. As a singer Devlin credits Robert Farris with giving her “ vocal wings”. She has recently studied with Patrick DeGennaro in New York City.

Devlin released her debut CD "Devlin Live In New York" for which Brian Scott Lipton of Theatermania stated:  "Devlin Live In New York is a fine introduction to a talented cabaret singer, who traverses the soundscape of Laura Nyro, Amanda McBroom, and Irving Berlin with ease and flair."

Her new show "The Places You Find Love" opened October 2008 at Don't Tell Mama in New York City. Directed by Lina Koutrakos and Rick Jensen, the critically acclaimed show included song arrangements by Rick Jensen and Tex Arnold covering the many moods and modes of love.  John Hogland of Theaterscene.net said of the exciting new show "Devlin really is a new force on the crossover cabaret/jazz scene and well on the way to making waves. "

Devlin will return in 2009 to Don't Tell Mama in New York City with "The Places You Find Love" on March 26th and March 28th at 7:00 pm. Also look for Devlin at a free performance at New York's Barnes and Noble bookstore at Lincoln Center on March 25th at 6:00 pm where she will be performing songs from her CD and her show "The Places You Find Love".
